Andy Aiken was selected to the first group of AP World History consultants and taught the first APWH and AP Human Geography courses in Colorado at Boulder High School in 2001 and 2000.  His first group of APWH students numbered 22, but grew to 152 in five years.  Aiken has been either a reader or table leader since the first national, APWH essay reading in 2002.  He has led APWH institutes in China, Vietnam, France, London, Germany, Mexico, Hawaii, and numerous U.S. cities.  He also has served as an AP Human Geography consultant. Teaching awards include: 1997 Fulbright Scholar to Japan, 1999 Freeman Fellow to China, 2000 Colorado International Studies Teacher of the Year, 2001 World History Association National Teaching Award, 2009 Polis/Colorado Teaching Award, and 2012 Colorado Model United Nations Sponsor Award.
